Greeley, PA – Magnum Research (MRI) has always counted their BFR (Big Frame Revolver) series among their many success stories. It all began in 1999, when an independent gunsmith/designer named Jim Tertin, was approached by MRI to manufacture the new large caliber revolver for them. Tertin mastered the base pin design, firing pin, barrels, frame and cylinder, and fine-tuned the timing of all BFR revolvers, and then put it into production for Magnum Research. In 2005, Tertin sold the BFR design to MRI and was hired by them as the Director of Manufacturing. His focus is now that of Director of Design, Research and Development for all MRI products including the iconic Desert Eagles and Baby Desert Eagles.
In an effort to always keep the BFR in the forefront of this competitive industry of revolver manufacturers, the BFR has been redesigned with some exciting new features. The hammer spur was addressed first and it is now taller and narrower than previous models. It was raised vertically allowing for easier cocking and is significantly easier to shoot, even with a gloved hand. The new hammer is 100% machined in stainless steel and is made with extremely tight tolerances giving it a very smooth and consistent trigger pull.
Also new for the entire BFR product line is the soft rubber, one-piece grip. They were designed with the most correct taper needed for single-action shooting. With its new ergonomic design, it is just slightly longer than the original two-piece grip MRI used prior to this. The new Hogue grip is a brand new “screwless design” that has never before been offered on a single-action revolver. The one-piece rubber grip fits snugly to the grip frame and will not move under recoil. Each grip is shipped with an assembly/disassembly tool that aids in installing or removing the grip. The new grips and hammers will fit any BFR manufactured since 2000 and are available directly from Magnum Research.
The last new feature offered on the entire BFR product line is the new BFR logo. The logo was designed internally by Kevin Yoon, Marketing Manager, Kahr Firearms Group and it truly reflects a more modern look for the BFR revolvers.
All BFR special ordered calibers, and all twelve BFR standard models with calibers that include: .454 Casull, .44 Magnum, .30/30 Win, .45/70 Govt., .460 S&W, .500 S&W, and .45LC/.410, and with barrel lengths of 5” up to 10” will feature the new upgrades.

Greeley, PA – Magnum Research is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of the Scholastic Action Shooting (SASP) National Championship. The event will take place at the Cardinal Center in Marengo, OH July 9-16.
The family-friendly championship event invites youth, 12 years old through college age, to compete in a 4-station timed action shooting event – which includes four “Low Ready” challenges: Focus, Go Fast, In & Out, and Speed Trap. As a Silver Sponsor, Magnum Research has donated five .22 rifles from their Magnum Lite series. One of the donations is the MLR22ATUT which is a 22LR rifle featuring the new Ultra Barrel. This 18-1/2” long, high-tech, modular tensioned-type barrel took Magnum Research over a year to develop and is extraordinary accurate, in part, because of the patented heat sink located inside the barrel. The MLR22ATUT measures 36-5/8” in length and weighs less than 5 pounds. This model can also accommodate a suppressor and has muzzle threads of ½ x 28. Other features include: 1 in 16 twist, Bentz chamber, a black polymer ambidextrous thumbhole stock design with a comb designed for scopes, integral Weaver-type scope mount base on the receiver, and an extended magazine release. MSRP on the rifle is $596.00.
Also donated by Magnum Research is the MLR22H. This .22LR Hogue® OverMolded™ rifle is from the Magnum Lite® Series and features a patented graphite barrel which makes it lighter weight and has better heat dissipation than that of steel while still maintaining rigidity. This exceptionally accurate rifle features a 17” barrel, an overall length of 35.5” and weighs in less than 5 pounds. The integral rail can accommodate Weaver style rings for optics. The stock is a Hogue OverMolded model. The MSRP on the MLR22H is $669.
“We are so happy that Magnum Research, Inc. has joined the Scholastic Action Shooting Program as a Silver level sponsor” stated National Director of SASP, Tammy Mowry. “With the rebranding of the Scholastic Pistol Program earlier this year to the Scholastic Action Shooting Program and the addition of the rimfire rifle program, Magnum Research’s .22 rifles will fit nicely into our program.”

Greeley, PA – In 2014, when Kahr Firearms Group purchased their 620-acre parcel of land for the new corporate headquarters, they knew that some of their new “neighbors” in the wooded acreage would be home to various species of wildlife. Much to their delight, a sow bear and her cubs would find all the comforts of home less than 400 yards from the corporate building.
For the third year since Kahr Firearms Group acquired the land, the Pennsylvania Game Commission has come out to check the vitals on the sow that they actually collared in 2006.
Last year, we reported that the sow was healthy and that she had given birth to 4 cubs. Sadly, those 4 cubs did not live, so this year, mama bear gave birth to two adorable cubs, now weighing in at 5 lbs.
Upon receiving permission from Kahr Firearms Group to enter the property and check on the status of the bears, the sow was located using a tracking device and was then darted with a sedative. While the Pennsylvania Game Commission officer collected blood, hair and vitals on the sow, the officer handed over the two cubs to Kahr personnel in order to keep them warm while outside of the den and away from their mom.
“Everyone loves a good bear story, and at Kahr, we feel like these bears add so much interest to this beautiful piece of property where we go to work every day” said Frank Harris, VP of Sales & Marketing. “Every year, a small group of us gather around the Pennsylvania Game Commission officer eager to once again see how our bear neighbor is doing and what offspring she gave birth to over the winter. Sadly, the two previous years she had lost her cubs due to her ailing health and also natural predators, but we were thrilled to see two more this year. We respect the animals of this forest and are so grateful that in spite of our busy office this has not disturbed her and she has decided to stay for the duration.”
The new Kahr Firearms Group corporate headquarters was finished in 2015 and the office in Pomona, NY was closed.
